Wakefield raspberry ® is a homogenous raspberry variety with medium-sized, tasty fruits with an average weight of 4.5 g, elongated conical shape, dark red color, which are excellent for freezing and further processing.
Wakefield® arrives for picking in mid-June and is harvested by the end of July and is currently the most common machine-harvested variety in the US.
Wakefield® originates from the USA and was selected by institutes from New Zealand and has been intensively produced for more than 10 years and gives excellent results when compared to other existing varieties.
Wakefield® has strong, lush growth with semi-erect shoots, very resistant to diseases of the root system and the above-ground part of the plant.
The fruit of the Wakefield® raspberry is excellent and very similar to the Willamette variety, and is particularly sought after in the US market.
Wakefield® raspberry seedlings are offered for the spring of 2024 exclusively for professional producers with the mandatory signing of a contract with the breeder on the prohibition of the production and sale of seedlings and the payment of a license on an annual basis.
